Wearable Identities

Wearable Identities is three mixed-media sculptural pieces exploring my three cultural/personal identities through the creation of three different hats. Each hat represents a different part of who I am.

My Swedish heritage from my mom’s side, represented by a Swedish Christmas dinner hat. My Brazilian heritage from my dad’s side, represented by a Rio-inspired hat. And my connection to Washington State and the Pacific Northwest, where I grew up. 

The project explores the idea of “wearing” different parts of my identity and how culture, family, and places shape who I am. Together, the three hats represent the different layers of my identity and how they come together to make me who I am.
